Jacob Brent as Mistoffelees
A magical cat much respected by the tribe, even by the self-absorbed Rum Tum Tugger and the mystical Coricopat and Tantomile, Mistoffelees is a black and white "tuxedo" cat. His age and abilities vary depending on the production: in some productions he is an adult cat with fully developed magical abilities; in others he is an adolescent, almost a kitten, who is still developing his powers. Mistoffelees magically brings back Old Deuteronomy after the leader has been kidnapped by Macavity, and all the cats join in singing "Oh! Well, I never! Was there ever a cat so clever as magical Mr. Mistoffelees?" Some people believe that he, along with Munkustrap, Rum Tum Tugger, and Macavity, is a son of Old Deuteronomy, or along with Victoria, he is Bustopher Jones's son.
Mistoffelees performs some of the most intensive choreography in the musical, including the amazing Conjuring Turn, where approximately twenty-five spins on one foot are performed. Since obviously dancing skills outweigh vocal skills in the actor playing the part, there are several different vocal track options for Mistoffelees, so the actor can do quite a bit of singing or no singing at all, depending on his abilities. Mistoffelees usually sings "The Rum Tum Tugger is a terrible bore!" in "The Rum Tum Tugger," but he and Rum Tum Tugger nevertheless obviously respect each other.
Mistoffelees is referred to simply as "Mistoffelees" in the 1998 film credits. He is referred to this way as well (or as "Mistoffelees/Quaxo – for info about this, see the Quaxo article) in many other show credits, and it is fairly obvious that the "Mr." in his name is simply adopted to give him a magician-type stage name.
